The Sky You Were Born Under

The clouds curdled in the blue summer sky.
Cold was a long way off and
The heat rose like a sound
Crackling and cracking.
But the sky was a battle –
Late summer clouds churning
Against a fading blue
And a sun of white.
Rain threatened.
Is rain on a Birth Day lucky?
It is the day you were wedded to the earth,
Joined till death do you part.
Inseparable.
The sky watched you come.
It held its warriors at bay
As you made your grand entrance.
Your mother knew nothing
But you know.
Your wild heart knows:
The sky was at war.
You were born under a warrior sky.
Destined to fight
The invisible
And the cruel.
And yourself.
Your clouds and your sun and your rain
At war
For life.
